The Ultimate "Honey-Do List"

We moved to Mission Valley in October, 2007 and were able to move directly into this house -- which we rented for several months and then decided to buy it. It included this little teeny-tiny ranch house on 40 acres. We decided the house really needed some "updating" -- so this is a picture diary of the process to date...

We started with this:

The top picture is the front and the bottom is the back.

Step one -- all the siding came off. We discovered it was red wood! Very pretty once all the ugly paint is sanded off!

Getting ready to add the upstairs -two bedrooms and a bath.

The second story started

The second story finished up until the addition is added on and we can tie the two roof lines together.

Digging footers for the breezeway and attached garage with office, bonus room and bathroom upstairs!

The guys -- putting in the tubes for the floor heat in the garage --- we are dreaming of having a warm place to park the vehicles in the winter!! But first -- this will be living quarters while we redo the current living space.

Exciting ---Starting to frame the breezeway -- which will be laundry room and will connect the house to the garage.

Our faithful helper!! For those of you who don't know -- this is my U. John (who is married to A. Connie - mom's sister). They live just a couple of miles from us and he has been here a lot of Saturdays lending a helping hand! Thanks!! We owe you more than one supper at Johnnie Carinos!! More framing going on! Notice Java is not very far from Ryan! I noticed as I looked through the 100 + pictures of this project that Java is in most of the the pictures that Ryan is in!

We had a good crew of volunteers this Saturday! Thanks guys -- you know who you are!!

This is what it looks like currently from the front -It's ready to tie the old and the new together with the roof line!

I'm sure that any of you that know anything at all about construction know that this is a very simplified version of what really has went on in this process. (And only a fraction of the pictures I have taken). Dave has been doing this mostly during the evenings and on his Saturdays. So.. progress is slow, but we are thankful to even be able to to it! We thought Dave would work on it this winter when he didn't have any "payin' work"...but thankfully, he hasn't had much down time since Christmas!
